I have my LS on a separate homemade mount. I use spotlock allot. Wouldn't want to be without it. Wind and current aren't an issue with spotlock. Plus I don't have to worry about the trolling motor wrapping up all the cables with a separate LS mount. You don't really need to spend the money on a spot lock trolling motor if you don't plan on using it. Just my 2 cents.

I bought my Terrova for the remote control and the auto navigation. I’ve used the spot lock rarely, but it’s not essential or necessary for the way I fish. To each his own I guess.

That's a good point there are other advantages to having a Terrova. I guess it depends on how your fishing and using your trolling motor. To each his own for sure.
