Just to also add, some of these better lithium battery companies have designed their bms systems in their batteries to handle the big motors. Brunswick Corp. recently bought Relion Battery Co for example. Brunswick also owns Merc. Call some of the battery Companies too see what works best for your motor.

I'm running Lithium batteries on everything in my boat except the cranking battery. It is a deep cycle wet battery. I'm wondering in case my cranking battery craps out while I'm on the water, can I use one of my Lithium batteries to jump start my battery for the motor using jumper cables and not hurt my motor?
I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up.

I am sure you could do it as for damage I am not sure. I carry a small jump pack with me on the boat that is about 3 inch by 8 inches.

No problem on a jump. Many jump start packs use lithium batteries.
