The common recommendation of mounting a GPS antenna close to the transducer is important simply for the idea that waypoints are more “accurate” if the underwater structure (seen directly under the xducer) is vertically inline with the GPS antenna being used (seen directly from above orbiting Earth satellites) ...

So “marking waypoints” it’s important for the GPS antenna to be close to the xducer ...

“Returning to waypoint” is simply the chosen GPS antenna trying to get back to those Latitude and Longitude values assigned to that waypoint when it was “marked” ...

My terrova was just purchased about 3 months ago and has the Bluetooth sensor, it is mounted at the console behind my helix. I have tried to subscribe to it in the network tab and it connects, only issue is when I did this my position never changed on the map while in motion so I switched back to the internal GPS of the helix. When I am using the go to feature, I will select go to waypoint if I have already marked the waypoint. Or, sometimes I will select go to position at cursor. On the remote setup, I selected to spot lock so once it reaches the selected target it will stay at that position until I cancel navigation. Only issue is that the terrova is not on that position but rather off by the distance from the console to the terrova which is around 7 feet. If it will help on the accuracy then I will mount the as gps hs over the transducer at the transom.

If the waypoint is “marked” at the console, the accuracy of that waypoint will be off by the distance from the HB internal GPS to the transom mounted xducer ...

There will be an accuracy benefit of mounting the AS GPS HS antenna at the transom ... (and subscribing to it in the HB Network tab of course) ...

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

At this time I do not have a unit at the bow. I am waiting to find a helix 10 or 12 to put at the console and move my 9 to the front. Once I do this then I will have all 3 units on a network.

I was just under the impression that if I marked a waypoint at my console, I could tell the terrova to go to that position. I did get a as gps and I will install at the transducer on the transom when I return home Sunday from drill.
