    Default Another newbie question

New HB Helix Mega SI. If I bought a separate mounting base, power cord and transducer, could I just swap the unit from the bow to the console? Back and forth as needed? Ideally, I would like to have 360 and DI on the bow, then have SI on the transom for locating/marking spots. Obviously trying to save buying a completely separate unit for side scanning at the console. I’m cheap, I know. Thank you much in advance for your helpful information.

Your intended scenario is valid ...

Some mount the unit to a Ram mount and then have separate Ram mount bases ...

You will also need an extra cable collector that fits your unit ...

Rickie, The unit I bought will recognize and operate as normal when connected to a different transducer than the one supplied? Will there be extra steps to take for a foreign transducer connection? I don’t suppose that I’m worried about the power connection. Thank you again for your help.

If you use the same model xducer at the second station -> there will be no issue ...

If you use a different model xducer -> the Connected Transducer selection under the Sonar tab would have to be changed to match the xducer model ...

If you will post the entire model name of your HELIX, I can provide part numbers for you ...
