Default Terrova with link gps question

Been playing around with my new terrova but just have a question. I do not have a heading sensor on my boat so I use the internal GPS of the unit. If I understand correctly when you mark a waypoint with Side Imaging the way point is actually set at the unit and not at the transducer? So if I select to go to a pre-marked waypoint and spotlock using the link function, would the spot lock happen on top of the cursor or would it be off by the length of transducer to the unit. Being that the unit is new to me when I am out scanning, I am marking structure Center Mass and while the cursor is over the selected Target , I push go to position and the trolling motor takes over . I'm just not sure exactly where the trolling motor is stopping . Will it be at a spot located directly on top of structure or would it be the difference in length of the unit to the transducer or difference in length from the trolling motor to the unit?. I hope this makes sense.

The GPS is in the head unit. But both distance from head unit and transducer can impact accuracy. I would expect it to get you close but you should be using your terrova transducer (even 2d sonar) to confirm you are over the target at the bow.

With the link, does the trolling motor get its GPS data from the GPS on the bird or is it utilizing its own GPS? I did notice in the accessories menu there is a selectable option to either use the internal GPS on the unit or GPS from the trolling motor. I just assumed that when the trolling motor was stowed it would not be broadcasting a GPS signal for the unit to use but I just was not sure.

Waypoint coordinates are assigned at the GPS antenna location chosen in the Network Source Menu under the Network tab ...

Correct - the Minn Kota iLink GPS is not selectable when the trolling motor is stowed - that selection will be visible but “greyed out” in the Network source Menu ...

That's kind of why I was asking because with the trolling motor stowed it still allows me to check that box. Its not grayed out. I never checked it because I figured that I just would not have any GPS if selected since the trolling motor would not be in the water while I'm operating the outboard
