I have the helix 9 g4n mega si mounted at the console. I'll be looking for a motor sooner than later now cause the steering cable broke this afternoon while on the water

If I do upgrade to a 24 volt trolling motor, could I still charge the 2 batteries in series with a 12 volt charger? Currently I have a 2 bank on board charger that charges the cranking and single trolling battery. Or do I need to get a 3 bank charger also.

How are general prices there? I saw a 2021 Yamaha F25 posted for sale that showed their receipt from Bucks with the out the door charges and it was about $500 more than I paid for the exact same motor but a 2020 model. Not sure if prices went up everywhere due to Covid or if they were higher there. I bought mine in July 2020 so still in the Covid timeframe but a little earlier on.

24V will be worth it if you do any trolling. I can pull cranks all day at 2mph with a Terrova 80 on a 17' Tracker with two group 29 batteries. It will do a touch over 3mph wide open. 24V motors are more efficient, and you will have two batteries instead of one.

Otherwise a 55 will do fine.

Really don't know about exact prices. I've bought my last 3 boats from them and always felt like I got a good price with a little haggling. When I bought my terrova, traded a 2 year old minnkota 45 lb thrust that came on my g3 and got 450.00 in trade on a 1700.00 terrova.

I'm thinking about getting the 24 volt terrova due to the price tag on the ultrex for ipilot link. In regards to the transducers. Is the us-2 better or the mdi? Just thinking that the mdi would be blurred due to the turning of the motor unless going on a straight path.

You mention a G4N at the console ... is this the unit you plan on connecting to the Minn Kota for Sonar ...??

US2 (200/83 fixed frequency) would be downgrading your G4N (HW 2d CHIRP) ... (and not work very well) ... US2 should only be connected to a G1 or G2/G2N ...

The MDI (or MSI) Minn Kota will match your G4N transmit frequencies ...

As an aside note ... just for info sake ...

An iLink feature is completely different from what built in xducer is included in the Minn Kota motor ...

iLink is an Ethernet connection that allows controlling the TM from the HB head unit ...

US2/MDI or MSI is simply a transducer connection built into the Minn Kota that eliminates the need of an xducer strapped to the bottom of the TM foot ...

I think most Minn Kota motors now come with US2/MDI or MSI ...

iLink is still an additional option ... (because US2 still works with Lowrance, Garmin etc and doesn’t need iLink to HB) ...
