    Default I-Pilot link remote battery

I’m curious if anyone has ever replaced the 3.7v 1200mah battery in the i-Pilot link remote with a higher storage capacity battery than 1200mah to last longer between charges, and if so, what you used. Thanks in advance for any recommendations

Thanks. 5 hours still isn’t long enough and hate to hear it’s only lasting that long. I’ve ordered a new battery to see if that helps and if not I’m going to order either a micro remote or non link remote as backup so I don’t have to worry about remote batteries while fishing. Enough batteries to worry about already out there, stinks to have another to worry about!

You can install a USB plug and plug the charging cord into it in your boat or get a 12 Volt lighter plug style with a USB. I installed a USB on the right of the front seat where the cord is not in my way while using it. I think you should try another new battery as I get well over 5 out of mine now but first replacement battery I bought (online) wouldn’t last but about 4. Ordered a new one and it lasts twice that long

Do you use a cellphone charger [the round part that the cord that goes from the lighter port to the remote]?

My battery lasts all day an then some. I did install both a 12v accessory outlet and USB outlet. I can plug in to either while on the boat and recharge as needed. One time I forgot to charge the battery and had to plug in while using it. I planned ahead and put the outlet in the bow where I needed it. No issues.

Don't know why they said to replace the remote unless it was having other issues. I have replaced the battery in the remote without any issues and we keep a spare because inevitably if you are going to have a problem your miles away from a solution. We also had a multi USB port installed on the bow of the boat and carry charging cords for both the remote and a cell phone. Saved us in more than one situation.

Thanks to all for the info and replies. After trying a new battery and cable (and neither worked) MK agreed to send me a new remote and the problem seems to be solved. A sensor (or something similar) went out and the battery would charge up fully, but then would not apply a trickle / constant charge to keep battery charged. So it would full charge then completely quit, and so over time the battery was discharge on its own. Wanted to fill everyone in in case it happens to anyone else. As long as under warranty, MK will cover and send brand new remote.

MK stand behind their product. I had a charger fail and they warrantied it out no problem. I sent them the tracking number and they sent me a new charger. Great customer service.
