Default LOWRANCE TO HUMMINBIRD WAYPOINT TRANSFER

Interesting day today. MOVED waypoints, but had some issues. First, I had to export .usr files via version 4. Nothing else worked for the conversion. Humminbird won't accept waypoints names that use the abc's, only accepted number names. Humminbird didn't like 2900 usr waypoints. Don't know why???????????????????????. I used Humminbird PC , but the .usr file containing 2900 wpts was too much for the frail helix. I zoned out an area with 1700 .usr waypoints and the conversion via Humminbird PC went fine.

Good day all in all. LERNT a few things.

I read one article where it stated 3000, then another article which stated 2500. Easy fix for me.

Humminbird will accept alphanumeric waypoint names that are up to 11 characters long. Also, recommended they contain no special characters but HBPC will flag unsupported characters.

That is what I ran into. Also HBPC don't accept Lowrance version 5 or 6 .usr data.

I am using a Lowrance HDS7 for GPS only on my Jon boat. HELIX 10's for DI and SI and 2D. Works fine this way. No hassles.

Hds definately has the advantage over the helix in the gps department.Hds holds more waypoints, quicker to rename change symbols and accurate.

I agree, The mapping sucks on all of them in my area. Mapping is finger painted WGS84 in our area of the lake. I catch crappie on dry land.
