You would need to change the User Mode to “Advanced” (under the Setup tab) and then check in the Connected Transducer Menu (under the Sonar tab) to see if there is an option for Quadrabeam ...

Xtm 6 TB is an old tri-beam Humminbird xducer no longer supported ...

HB use to make an AD 926 adapter cable to convert the old 2pin #6 connector to the newer #9 connector ...
    Humminbird - Humminbird AD-926 Adapter 7 Pin Transducer - 2 Pin Unit #11-33181

But that actually does no good if the unit doesn’t have a Connected Transducer selection for a TriBeam xducer ...

So the XTM 6 TB is of no use for me being it is unsupported and the quadraBeam is dependent on if using the right transducer?

Think the fog lifted some here. If the program isn't installed in the unit you won't be able to use it. Just go ahead with the XNT 9 DI T. Then try the advanced route to see if is available.

Correct ... if there is no Quadrabeam selection in the “Connected Transducer” Menu under the Sonar tab = there is no brains in the unit to utilize the Quadrabeam xducer ...

Note : the “User Mode” under the Setup tab must be set to Advanced before you can even see the “Connected Transducer” Menu under the Sonar tab ...

“User Mode” in Normal hides a lot of infrequently used menus ...

Is it OK to turn it on to look without a transducer hooked up to it? Like I said I am green as a gourd on this. I don't want to let the magic smoke out of it.

Press the Menu button during initial startup when you see the Humminbird logo screen ... you should now see a popup window with 3 choices : Normal, Simulator, and System Status ...

Cursor down to Simulator and right cursor ...

Simulator gives you all function menus of the unit without being on the water ...

Found the user mode and set to advanced. Then went back to the sonar tab but didn't find the transducers.

That is an indication that there are no other xducers compatible with that unit ...

XNT 9 DI T is your only option then ...
