Thread: Humminbird update

Have not had that problem but it is bad business. I have a gen 2 that just went out of warranty that is dark on the right side image. I am seriously considering going all Garmin. Humminbird makes pretty good stuff but not good enough to not back it up with good customer service.

I just did my update. Now my Helix MSI ,GPS, G3 turns on and said shutting down. Called Humminbird they want $250 to fix it. Anyone had this problem? This is the 3rd update I have done to this unit. Haven't had any issue till now. UPS $40 to shipping.

Just a 7 inch MSI GPS G3

I had a Helix 9 SI G2N that croaked after doing an update last year. It was stuck in a reboot loop. The warranty went out like 6 months prior. I contacted support and they paid for shipping, but told me it may cost me the repair fee. A few weeks later I got an email stating they replaced the main board and there was no fee. I actually got a new unit. I can't complain about that.

Long shot experiment ...:

*Format the SD Card that has the update bin file on it ...
*Download the update from HB again to the clean card ...
*Insert SD Card into the unit ...
*Power on the unit ...
*Cross fingers ...

Updating SW/FW in a digital system of any kind should never break the target. SW engineering QA at HB needs to get on the ball. Too many users have had this issue.

my screen fell out of mine a HELIX 9 GEN 2 was hanging by wires, way out of warranty said send it back..I even tried silicone it back in, sent back and 2 weeks later had a brand new Helix Gen 3 DI delivered to my door o I believe they stand behind their stuff.
