    Default Hummingbird upgrade

    Looking to upgrade my 5” bird on bow . Linked to a Terrova. Looking for suggestions on a solid used bird graph probably 9” or 10” . Mainly for spider rigging. Im NOT very computer savvy . Wanted to get y’all’s thoughts on live scope vs 360 vs 2d/Di upfront for spider rigging? I only have experience with 2D/DI/SI . We have a helix 9 SI DI on console we use for scouting and pulling cranks . TIA !

    bigger is better for sure ! Some I know that have the mega 360 and the live scope use the 360 to locate them then zero in on them with the live scope ! I hear of some folks that’s having issues with live scope and most are selling the 9” and going to 12” or bigger! But you can look at the results from Grenada this weekend and tell that the live scope have changed fishing for sure !

    HB Ethernet capable HELIX units ...

    G1 = HELIX 9, 10, 12 (note: G1 have no generation indication actually listed in the model name) ...
    G2N = HELIX 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 (note: must have “N” in the model name)
    G3N = HELIX 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 (note: must have “N” in the model name)
    G4N = HELIX 8, 9, 10, 12, 15 (note: must have “N” in the model name)

    360 is good for seeing all the way around the boat without user input - just look at the screen ...

    LiveScope is good for targeting specific “targets” - must be aimed at the target ...

    From the information I’ve read , it appears 360 would be a better application than live scope for a spiderrigger that doesn’t want to spend 100s of hours learning/ setting up . Is 360 mega much better than regular 360 ?

    Yes MEGA 360 is much more detailed than original 360 ... and MEGA 360 doesn’t have to be completely stationary to get a discernible image ...

    Be careful ordering anything from Humminbird. I ordered 2 12" helix and a mega 360 on Jan. 4th and still have not received the Helix 12 SI. I ordered it from a vendor on this site. It is not his fault he can't ship what he doesn't have. Humminbird/Johnson Outdoors has been shipping everything to boat builders and hardly anything to the retailers.

    Im not surprised, everything is running behind these days with all the shutdowns . I won’t be purchasing anything until I get more info, and figure out what I want . I purchased my Helix 9 about 7 years ago and still haven’t figured it out completely . Thanks for the heads up though

    I use mega 360 in trolling jigs and crankbaits at all speeds. Slydoggie if I remember his name right, trolls using it for stripers at fast speeds with excellent results. Mega 360 gives excellent pictures of schools of fish as well as singles that I can chase crappie or find them easily if they move on me after running thru them. If Humminbird’s Mega Live is as good as the pics on some of the pre ads,,,it’s definitely going to be a game changer. Just have to wait on Mega Live. For mega 360 you need a plus unit of the Helix models G3N or G4N to plug it into. The later Solix models also. Gen 1 360 is a Ethernet plug in. Mega 360 is a transducer plug in but can be networked to the G2N models.
