Default Transducer damaged by cold temperature?

I left my fish finder (lowrance hook2 5) in garage this week while Texas has cold freeze. Temperature dropped to early teen last few nights. Went out today but found transducer is not functioning properly. It still reports the temperature but no depth or sonar information. I don’t hear the vibration sound from transducer, either.

This is the first time since it use it 2 years ago.

    Anyone had similar experience before?
    Hopefully it will recover.
Appreciate any suggestions or insight you can share.
    Thanks.

Were the units left outside ? Would expect problem with unit as I have duck hunted with my transducers in extreme cold water with no issues . Curious .

If its been 2 years, I doubt the cold had anything to do with it. But... did you put the boat in the lake? I have never gotten a return from one that was dry (I also heard somehow firing them up dry can damage some?)

We walleye fish here till ice up. Lots of times it is in the teens all day and units have functioned. I suspect some thing else happened to the head unit. I also think not using a depth finder for 2 years is illegal in some parts of the country.

I doubt it there's millions in used ice fishing every year...boats stored in cold storage or outside...this last cold snap we were -0 for highs for 10 days in a row, night lows -25-30 my boat sits in a unheated shed,I never even remove the graphs out of the boat.

I live in Central Oregon and mine sits outside all winter. We get negative temperatures on a regular basis. My boat sits outside all winter under a metal carport. I've never had any issues.. The biggest concern for me is making sure the motor is drained. Live wells tend to freeze and break if not drained also. Some of my buddies will run rv antifreeze thru the lines and pump.

Default Transducer damaged by cold temperature?

Thanks for all the replies. I guess that the takeaway is cold weather should not be the reason.

Last Friday water temperature was 35F and transducer did not work. Before that trip, transducer was left outdoor.

I put transducer indoor before last Sunday trip. water temperature rose to 48F.
During that trip, it initially didn’t work. But after about 15 minutes turned on, it suddenly starts to work.

I still have no idea that why it stooped working and suddenly back to work. Only thing I can speculate is that maybe the quick drop of air temperature from 60F to 10F (very rare occasion in Houston area) is a cold shock to the transducer.
I don’’t expect it happen in the near future as this cold freeze is supposed to be once in a hundred years, lol.

That all does point to a temp drop, that is speculative at best But, just give it a while to come around to more typical temps in your area. I can't really think that's it and who knows. Electronics can be very finicky. Let us know how it goes.

If there is a leak freezing temps would damage it. But if that's the case the transducer is already damaged.

Sometimes, it stops showing depth although I saw that chart is moving and I can see the bottom from the chart.

I also noticed that, when I show sonar and downs an together, portion of sonar screen stop updating sometimes.

Are those symptoms normal or an indicator of malfunctioning, maybe some damages?
