Default light weight battery box for 18 ah for my canoe and watersnake 18# trolling motor

My favorite grab boat is my cheap plastic Pelican canoe which i made a motor mount and stabilizers from crap pot floats to allow me to stand on calm water . Because it's so light i wanted a lightweight trolling motor and after several reviews bought a 18# thrust Watersnake it weight about the same as my fishing pole i think. Needless to say my battery weighted 50 pounds at least and overkill for the county lake i fished so i had a 18ah battery laying around so one day i took my canoe , motor , battery and a paddle and fished and trolled for two hours at hi and low speed - yeah only 2 speeds but that's ok at home the battery was hardly drained when i checked it on a meter so next i wanted a battery box for easy carry and thought a ammo box would do the trick . Well as you can see in picture the battery was two high and i didn't want a bigger box so i traced the top of battery onto paper than onto the top of the ammo box and with a Dremel cut out a hole and actually turned out pretty good. I put some styrofoam in to keep the battery from shifting and added a battery gauge to check battery life . 13#'s vs 50#'s is quite a difference to me in my old age and also i like simple Name: boat my battery box with 18 ah battery.jpg
