    Default battery charging

Just installed a 36 volt minnkota on friends boat. He has two dual chargers he wants to use. Can one charger be hooked to cranking battery and one of the three trolling motor batteries and the other charger hooked to the remaining 2 batteries for the trolling motor. I'm assuming as long as you match pos to neg off of each charger to same on each battery or do I need a quick disconnect between the trolling motor batteries to make this work ?

    Battery charger doesn’t know.
Just go positive to positive/negative to negative. I’m assuming both chargers are same amp per bank.

    Chucks right.
He brings up a good point about the amperage. The 3 trolling batts need to be the same age and charge at the same rate, time, & frequency for best performance and battery life.

Thanks guys. All three trolling batteries are new. Will have to see if chargers have the same output per bank.

5 years ago I converted my TM/boat from 24 to 36Vs. The boat came with a ProMariner 5/5 dual bank charger and was connected to only the two TM batteries. I bought the exact same charger because it was much cheaper than a 4 bank and then connected two batteries to each charger including the cranking battery. It has worked perfectly since then but like others said best to have same battery type and age for each of the TM batteries. My chargers do have markings on one set of the wires that basically says if charging a cranking battery connect to these leads.
