I like my 106 ultra, but it replaced a 73sv.
Its time to upgrade from my Lowrance HDS Gen 1 electronics on my boat. I have the 8 and the 7 networked and they have served me well but its time to change.
Im going with the Garmin Echomap/live scope. My question is do I need to go with the 10 or 12" Ultra or can I get by with the 9" SV UHD on the live scope?
I'm trying to stay under $4k and would like to have two units with one having the live scope. Any advice will be appreciated
Thanks

I have a 93sv so I can’t speak to the larger units but I don’t feel handicapped, I can see brush piles, fish and my jig. Depending on how we’re fishing I can see my wife’s jig and mine clearly enough to see a fish take it.

If I was going to get ONE unit to go with Livescope AND the SI/DI/2d Chirp ... for split screen use ... I'd go with the biggest screen I could afford.
However ... I didn't want the SI/Di/2d transducer with my 93sv UHD Garmin & Livescope system, because I already had a Hook 7 that I could use for DI/GPS ... leaving the entire 9" screen for nothing but Livescope. So far I'm happy with the setup I have.
In any event, I'd contact Brian@BBGmarine and see what he can send you for your budget limit. I got the 93sv/Livescope setup for $2200 (minus the 93sv's transducer) from Brian, last Summer, and feel like I got a good deal.
I would wait and see how the Lowrance and HB versions are received and then decide.
For what it's worth I have 2x 93 uhd models at the helm($1200) one for sonar and one for maps, a 1022 gpsmap at the bow ($1200) and livescope ($1500). All that for less than $4k.
Keep in mind that the difference in the 9 inch and 10 inch is not just one more inch, it is also higher pixel density per inch.
You should also budget a few hundred at least for a quality telescoping mount on the bow to get your graph closer to your eyes and a pole for the transducer.
I have the 10 and it works great (106SV) but still thing about going to the 12 and use it for livescope only.
Story - My first SI unit was a 7" screen and returned it immediately went with and 8 then later upgraded to an 1198 which I think is 10.4" and all I can say it's night and day the detail difference you pick up.
Have you ever heard man my screen it too large, wish I went with the smaller graph??? Biggest you, your wallet and stomach can afford!
With 4K to spend, you are probably going to have to stay with two 93 models and Livescope
I thought this was interesting...

thanks for all the feedback. I have already talked to Brian at BBG marine. I got all my electronics there last time so that's the first place I went. I also have spent a bunch of time on the web researching. I will have a chance to swing by bass pro in Nashville tomorrow so I plan to take a look at the difference. hopefully I will have some pics of my set up in the next week or so

Keep in mind the height of your mount. A 9" unit 2' from your face is going to look much larger and clearer than a 10" or 12" at your ankles.
I currently have a Helix 10 and 106SV on a Cornfield Crappie Gear double mount with 10" arms. I started with 6" arms and recently moved to the 10" length.
My next boat will likely have a 12-15" unit on the Beatdown Outdoors mount.
