    Some engines are definitely more sensitive than others running on a low battery. With my Optimax I wouldn't even think about running with your scenario.

    That's an excellent point. My dads 150 Mercury had a bad starting battery. You could try and jump it and the motor would crank away but would not fire. Swap in a new battery and it fires like new. A guy at church ran into the same scenario on his pontoon. I'm not sure what make he has but its a newer model for sure.
