First day out with Livescope.
Took my 93sv UHD with livescope out to the lake today. Like anything there is a learning curve and I think overall it went well. I definitely think I caught more fish by simply being able to target the school of crappie as it moved around in relation to the boat. The biggest problem I had was seeing my bait. Sometimes I could see it well and sometimes I could not. I could see it usually in the 5 to 10 foot range in front of the boat down to about 20 feet. If I cast directly in front of the transducer and retrieved back I could not see it. Pitching right in front of the transducer and letting it sink is when I could see my bait best. I had my gain at 68, tvg set to off and medium noise reduction. Do you livescope guys have any suggestions on fine tuning i could do?

Braid definitely helps, I use a mono leader you can see the difference in the two. Are you moving the transducer slightly either direction? Sometimes a very slight adjustment makes a big difference in the return of a small bait.Originally Posted by thaDudeAbides

Yes I'm adjusting the direction of transducer to help put the bait in the cone angle. I'm using a 3" gulp minnow on a 1/16 jig head, 4lb test line.

Is it mounted to your trolling motor or a separate pole? My pole mount is a DIY setup and if I have too much transducer angle I’ll catch my jig in a portion of the water column but not all.
I can cast larger lures and see them, crappie jigs are tricky in my experience. Aiming is crucial.

It's on a pole. I watched a few more YouTube videos so I am going to try a few more things next time I get on the water.

If you turn your color gain up to 80% it will help. Practice, practice, practice casting your jig exactly where you aim is critical. Some days I'm pretty good at this, other times I struggle. Like mention above a weight above your bait helps you find your bait. Also try using a 1/8 oz jig, crappie will often eat the bigger jig better than a small one,

Thanks for the advice guys. Roy, adjusting color gain was going to be my next try. Thanks for pointing it out. I'm also going to throw some braided line. It was a very enlightening day nonetheless. I was surprised at how many fish came charging in to the bait only to turn tail and leave. The white perch would make ten foot vertical charge on a 1/16th bait and crush it. Never would have thought the fish would even see a bait that far away. This is going to be fun.
