LOL ... yeah, I've had mine out about 4-5 times so far, and I can tell you for sure that there are way more fish that come charging towards the bait & never touch it, than those that do.

Normally I'm using a 12' BGJP and double jig rig when LS fishing .... it is a lot easier picking out your baits when there's two, than when there's just the one. Today, however, I was just using a 8' BnM FnF rod and a single jig ... tipped with a small minnow. Crappie were hugging the standing timber in a ball, anywhere from 5-15' down, and some would charge out and eyeball the jig/minnow but not take it. I had to jump the jig up about a foot and then let it freefall (sometimes 2 or 3 times) ... and if the line stayed slack, I set the hook & most times brought in a fish. I did see several fish actually hit the bait (felt the thump at the same time), but the wind & boat waves made keeping the jig on the screen very difficult at times. But, that's always been the bane of my fishing ... I can go across the lake to calm water & before I can get my bait in the water the wind will be pushing me in every direction except the one I want to go in.

But. like you say ... it's "fun" and the more I use it the better I get with it.

Luck2ya with your LS ... hope you get'er dialed in and have a Large Time using it !!

One big thing I've learned on seeing jigs is to have depth set to manual rather than auto. With the above mentioned settings I have no problem seeing a 1/32 oz jig at 45' and following it back to boat although there is a slight dead zone at about 20 ' that I will occasionally loose it then pick it back up around 15'. Scott & the rest of you guys .... read this whole page, especially the two blue highlighted links ( Panoptix LiveScope Ghost Tree's or False Returns | Garmin Support ) . They will tell you how to minimize the "ghost tree" ... which is the semi-circle and/or V shaped "tree" (that really isn't there, just interference). See pic below :

Here's a screen shot from last week of slabs schooled up. My 1.5 g jig is the lil' dot at 10.5 feet out and 17.5 feet deep. I used Paint to draw an arrow. I have NR on medium or high and the gain you can see is cranked up to 73%. Some may consider this a noisy picture, but I can see everything I need to, all the way in. I caught a bunch of these fish, and they were mostly 13-15 inch slabs.

Most of the Livescope guys here have moved to larger jig heads so that they can see their baits better. I used 3/16 jig heads with #2 hooks. I know some guys who use 1/4 once heads.

I'm with Jawjatek and probably should have mentioned that . If your looking to fish with a crystal clear screen by adjusting gain low 55< or turning noise reject high your probably not seeing jig. Yes my screen is fuzzy but I see everything i need to see and ghost tree is no problem to me. Caught 5 off it the other day. Typically my gain is 62-67 but have to constantly adjust it thru the day depending on water depth and conditions. It's not a set and forget . That being said I've been able to see jigs as small as .5 gram jerbikin with a tiny bobby garland. This technology is not perfect but I would never fish without it. The most aggravating thing I deal with is the semi- dead area usually around 15-20' out with range set at 50' which is my general fishing distance. Again biggest difference maker for me in seeing jig is leave depth on auto when scouting for fish or brush but change to manual once locating them . Scott

When I'm using my 12' rod I have a double jig rig ... no problem seeing my jigs.
When using my 6-8' rods I have a single jig rig ... no problem seeing the jig.
    I'm using 1/16oz jigheads and 1.5" to 2" plastics.

On the single jig rig, if I am having trouble finding my jig in the noise clutter ... I jiggle the rod tip slightly and watch the screen for the one little blob reacting the same way.

I've also been told that if you want to use a single jig rig & have trouble seeing it ... add a small sinker 8-12" above the jig ... then watch the screen for TWO blobs falling at the same rate.

Funny story about my buddy's fishing partner who is not much of a jig fan, preferring minnows. He was getting a lot of bites, but not getting many hookups. (he also wasn't paying much attention to the screen) My buddy said he started laughing at his partner & his partner asked him what was so funny about him not catching any fish. He told his partner that the reason he wasn't catching any fish was because many of the hits he was getting was because the fish were hitting his SINKER !!

Yes you can adjust the ghost tree out but when you do that you also adjust out anything else in that area. Brush, fish, your bait, etc. I've been working with Garmin on this ever since the Perspective View software update, so far they have NOT come up with a solution!

I prefer a cluttered screen as well!
Nice shot and some good size fish!
