Default Finding Crappie with Humminbird Mega 360.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. In fact, I have never used a fishing forum before and still learning the ropes. I recently installed a mega 360 on my Ultrex trolling motor and networked it with my bow mounted Helix 10 MDI G3n and two Helix 9 G2n SI and DI at the console.

Any tips or advice would be welcome. Thanks

Forward view will “fill” more of the display ...

Shorter Range will make objects larger ...

Faster sweep speed will “refresh” more often - but with less detail ...

“Contour Mode” under the 360 Enhance Menu will remove the water column ...

“360 Navigation” “On” will alllow marking waypoints directly on the 360 view ...

Palette choice is determined by ambient lighting conditions ...

Sensitivity Up (brighter) when looking at structure - Sensitivity Down (darker) to make lighter fish echoes pop better ...

Thanks for the help. I have seen some of the features on Youtube but this simplifies it for me.

when using forward view,,sometimes try enlarging to 2x or even 3x

my sweep speed is always set to 3 for best clear viewing no matter what speed boat is travels.

40’ is my normal range and no more than 60’ on the radius.

I mostly leave contour mode on as when turned off, you will see less fish under the boat.

I start out with sensitivity set to 10 as well as contrast at 10 then adjust as needed depending on depth and softness or hardness of the bottom of the water I am fishing.

play with your settings to suit your waters and needs especially for your eyes and sunlight.

I haven't had a chance to get back to the water to play with it. The little woman has had me home doing honey dues but, I'm sending her off for a week so I will get a chance to fish multiple times next week. Thanks for the info.

I occassionally vertical jig when finding schools,,,,have to keep contour mode showing the black hole of water below the boat. But,,when off,,,it shows a defined bottom and brush, that is when I rely in a second depth finder next to the one showing 360 and that depth finder will have 2d and DI showing what is below me. Definitely have contour mode on show fish as my primary way of fishing is pulling cranks they the fish it shows in the black hole of depth below my boat as well as occassionally pulling jigs. For some reason,,even the bass guys on bbc,,agree,,Mega 360 might have a weakness as to not showing fish below the boat when contour mode is off and it’s showing all the structure below the boat. It’s easy to turn it on/off for glancing at the screen to use it in both settings especially when trolling. Multiple ways to use mega 360 in viewing your surroundings. For the multiple ways you have offered to you,,,play with it and the settings to benefit your style of fishing.

I have the Y cable installed and I can split screen or use my two units at the console. I just have the one unit at the bow. My son rigged the boat for bass fishing but, I enjoy Crappie fishing more. I'm getting out there next week.

The original 360, but hopefully it helps!

    Find them with side-imaging

I had the first opportunity to go out and work with it today. I had to put my noise filler on 4 to kill the interference. I had the console units on standby and on different frequencies. I also have a shielded power cable for the whole boat so not sure what's going on there. I can see this going to be a bit of a learning curve for me but I did find some fish and cover using it. I need more time on the water with it. Thanks for the help.
