    Default Livescope questions

I fish a nearby lake with a katrillion trees in it. I'm looking for an electronic upgrade to help save me time finding trees with fish on them. Yes I can narrow it down using mapping and drop offs but some times that still requires hours. I have a 93sv (not uhd but the better ducer) and I'm not impressed with the side imagining. What are your thoughts on the livescope with my 93 for this purpose? I don't believe I'll be starring at it but probably would look to see if they are following and not biting. Thanks for your thoughts.

    Marker buoys are your friend..
    Our lake is full..of Timber..
Mine is on my Trolling motor I scan..
See the fish throw the marker Buoys out..
Will even show the depth and pattern they are on..

Not sure if this is really related to your question but LS has completely changed the way I fish for crappie. I often fish timber and other structure in my home lake and it immediately shows me where the fish are or are not. No wasting time on trees without my fish and I am continually amazed at how certain trees will hold a lot more fish than others. I also am learning every trip I how they react to the bait, shy from the boat and sometimes get aggressive competing with other fish. Can’t help you on the 93 as my LS is connected to a 1022.

My LS is connected to a Garmin Echomap 93sv UHD (I opted out of the tdx in my deal with Brian@BBGMarine) ... which I use exclusively for the LS. I have a Hook 7 that I use for DI/GPS mapping.

If the LS system will connect to your 93sv ... then yes it will serve the purpose you're seeking. Case in point : I went to a local lake that is heavily dotted with stands of timber, mostly to try out my new LS system, but also to see if I could get some ideas on where the Crappie schooled up. I went to about 10 different stands of trees, assuming there'd be a few (if not a bunch) Crappie down in the stand somewhere ... only to find all 10 stands of trees to completely empty of ANY fish. (these trees were in 10-25fow) I'm not sure why there were no fish there, but it sure explains why I've been skunked there the last few times I've fished it.

I've only had my LS out twice, but I've fished several times with a buddy that has had one for a couple of years ... and I'm still learning. It may not help me put more fish in the boat, but it will definitely save me time casting to a spot that I "think" fish should be on by showing me if there are any fish there to start with !! It will show me how they react to my offerings, boat proximity & shadow, TM noise or prop wash, etc. And I've already learned that you can see a dozen fish on a brushpile, catch a few of the aggressive ones, then leave and come back to it later in the day ... and possibly pick off a few more fish (some of which previously turned their nose up at what I was offering).

Also ... don't always expect to feel the thump !! Sometimes you just have to lightly lift up your rod tip & feel "weight", then set the hook. In fact, most of the fish I've caught when fishing with the LS have not "thumped" the jigs. I just saw them approach my jig and stay there ... and when I lifted my rod tip there was that slight weight/resistance that told me the fish had it.

Thanks all, now I think I'll try to wait till winter/spring. See if they have a new and improved or some rebates. They came out with the UHD 6 months after I bought my 93.

Yes it's the plus, livescope ready. Thanks

Then you can use scope with it. UHD has nothing to do with scope so no improvement by stepping up to that. My plus does just fine.

The information you get from the scope is unreal. This video, all the crappie were shorts and I could see there were not many bigger ones around. The fish on the left side were all bluegill. And I watched the catfish eating the crappie, untill he bit my bait.

Does anyone have images of similar trees with and without fish for comparison ?
