Garmin SteadyCast™ Heading Sensor

I am trying to help a friend mark and go to waypoints on a garmin 1226 sv ... when closing in on a marked waypoint the map may spin saying it's in a different direction... I use lowrance with a point 1 antenna and don't have this problem ..does garmin have the same type of heading sensor for there units that updates quicker where the map won't spin ?

There should be a couple different settings you can change, head up and north up at least.
I can't remember which one that I use, but one will prevent the map from spinning around when you're creeping up on a waypoint.
I am not positive, but the point 1 is a standard nmea heading sensor. I know it works with huminbirds and should work with the garmins. If I get time tonight. I will hook it up to the garmin and see if it works.
It will work fine. I used to have Lowrance units and I’m running my Point1 with my Garmin now.
As Atimm mentions above you can set the Chart to North Up and stop the screen from spinning - but you also have to learn direction on the Chart view because “North” will now always be at the top of the screen regardless of which way you’re actually traveling ...
