    Default Hummingbird Network problem

I’m having trouble in my boat and I can’t figure it out. I have a Bluetooth Terrova with i-Pilot link, helix 10 gen 3 mega DI+ on front deck, 999si on console, Ethernet box under front deck.

I’m loosing my link connection, and the connection from 999 to Helix 10.

    I’ve done the following:

    Restarted everything
    Disconnected power to everything
    Checked all connections

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes when I first get to the lake everything is working right, then for no reason everything stops talking to one another, then sometimes it starts working again on it’s own. It’s very frustrating.

    Any suggestions?

Sometimes reducing to basic connections can narrow down connectivity issues ...

*Try iLink connected directly to the HELIX ...
*Try iLink connected directly to the 999 ...
*Try 999 connected directly to the HELIX ...

If these work without issue - suspect the AS ETH 5XPG either not getting power or just being flaky ...

If any of the above also has issues - suspect a bad Ethernet cable ...

Thanks. According to the weatherman I’ll have plenty time to mess with it this week since we’re supposed to get 5” of rain. I kinda suspect the box. One thing I didn’t check was the power to the box.

So I checked power going to box and I have power getting to it. Hooked it back up, turned everything on and it all works. What’s been happening all year is it works when it wants to. I haven’t been a single time when something hasn’t happened. Very frustrating. I know I don’t have the top of the line stuff HB sells but I have close to $5000 in electronics in my boat.

Here’s pics of what everything is saying now.

I suspect a bad Ethernet cable somewhere ...

Still ...reducing to basic connections as I noted above can sometimes be the easiest way to track down issues in a multi device Network ...

Fished all day yesterday with zero problems. Only thing I did was check all connections at the Ethernet box. All of them were tight, but I went ahead and reconnected all of them. I don’t know if it’s fixed or not, but it’s the first trip this year with no problem.

Putting a little dielectric grease on connections can help save problems down the road.
