Are they a great help ? What difference do they make in mapping and way point accuracy ?

Without one any marks you make will be off by the distance between your unit and the transducer. With it if you can locate it as close to over the transducer the more accurate it'll be.

I have three high speed GPS antennas on my boat. One is for the T/M and the other two are mounted right above the transducers. The high speed GPS antennas are more accurate than the older ones, I get a better/faster boat positioning. One is on top of a ducer mount from Ricky, the other is mounted on the transom angle plate. As stated when I mark a waypoint it is spot on. Without, you are marking possibly 6 foot away as with my boat being a 16 footer. Name: 20191003_180108.jpg

Since I run a tiller steer both my units are not very far off the transducer . Couple of feet or less . I was told the loss of signal would happen less (donuts hole ) .I tried to order , but not available at this time .

Loss of signal is less but only with the high speed antenna. That's followed by an I think.

I got mine to help with direction pointing. When your barely moving, sometimes the heading just jumps all over the place without one.

Is this high speed heading sensor any different than the GPS heading sensor I purchased 7-8 yrs, ago back when I was running a 1298 KVD before I upgraded to gen 3 helix. Trying to figure if there is now a newer more accurate one out there. Scott

The High Speed GPS antenna # 408400-1. MASH-UPS HS PRECISION GPS. It will have a little arrow on the front of it so when you mount it, that points forward.

I bought mine for the sole purpose of seeing my boat position on the screen instead of the doughnut.
Really helps me get to the spots I want to fish.
