Default Having trouble diagnosing a problem

I am having issues trouble shooting an older Minn Kota. Everything appears solid but the motor bogs down at 90-100%. Even at 50% the motor bogs down when in the water Can y'all help me figure out what piece is the culprit. Dang I tried to send a video but it won't deliver. Sent a blurry picture to show how clean brushes are.Name: KIMG1953.jpg

Put the motor up in run position. Take the prop off. Make sure no line is twisted around under it. Loosen the 2 bolts that hold the end cap on and look for any water coming out. If there is take it apart, give it a good cleaning, check the brushes and reassemble using new seals.

I've given the unit a good cleaning. I also tuned it before I cinched the end housing bolts. Went back through it again last night to make sure I didn't miss anything. I even took the brush housing off to check power terminals. They were shiny put it back together. And still bogs down.

Just by chance, have you checked the battery voltage when it bogs down?

Bypass the control board and apply battery directly to the motor. Disconnect terminals at control board and connect to the wires. This will eliminate the control board.

The motor should run at max speed this way.

All right followed Cane Pole suggestions....bypassed the control board. It ran smooth at high speed. Any suggestions on eliminating this problem versus finding a board.

    1. Can I put in a pwm and eliminate the board all together for propeller power. Steering motor still works ok.

    2. Can I convert it to 12V with the pwm?

I have now found Cane Pole recommendation for a DC reversible pwm. Will that allow me to bypass the board

I would check the voltage at the battery when trying to run full speed. Voltage drop somewhere or something is current limiting. Don't buy a controle board just yet.
