    Default GPS Coordinates

How do I type this in manually on my new sonar ? My unit asks for a 3 digit number in the column underlined. I tried to add a zero and it was way off on the chart from the area it should be. When I put in aspot with the correct format Ex. ( 55 55 555 ) they show where they should on the lake. Some other spots I want to add has a decimal point in the number also. I can't figure that one out either. ThanksName: 20200626_095116.jpg

I used this site : GPS Coordinate Converter, Maps and Info .... and when I put your coords in, the GPS version is the only one that ends in 3 digits. Unfortunately, Google has gotten a little uppity in recent years & won't show me the map for some reason, like it did when I used this site to convert about 400 coords from DMS to DD for my Lowrance units.

Believe me when I say I tried a similar trick, but I cut off the number at the end (thinking it would only be a few feet diff) .... only to find out that my shortened coords put the brushpile somewhere in Siberia

Hope it helps. And if the Google map won't show up for you, either, then try those "GPS" version coords in your unit & see where the new waypoint comes up on your unit's map. If it shows up on your unit's map where you think is correct, then the GPS coords version can be used to convert other coordinates.

Yeah, I've discovered that now. I have a Echomap UHD 73 CV at the bow and a 73 sv at the wheel. I just put them on and am setting them up. Thanks

Dude ... actually there are 4 formats (DD - DMS - GPS - UTM) but I don't know of any depthfinder brand that uses UTM ( Universal Transverse Mercator).

I have used GPSBabel for coords for Navionics, FishSmart Humminbird app, and Garmin Active captain all with success. Here is the process for Garmin units if you need to change the format (called the "Units" on a Garmin).

    ECHOMAP Plus Series
    - My device is not creating waypoints in the correct location

You can manually enter a waypoint location to transfer and share data from one device to the next. If you have manually entered a waypoint using coordinates, and the location of the point does not appear where the point should be, the map datum and position format of the device may not match the map datum and position format originally used to mark the waypoint.
Position format is the way in which the GPS receiver's position appears on the screen. This is commonly displayed as latitude/longitude in degrees and minutes, with options for degrees, minutes and second, degrees only, or one of several grid formats.
Map datum is a math model which depicts a part of the surface of the earth. Latitude and longitude lines on a paper map are referenced to a specific map datum.

    • Find out which map datum and position format was used when the original waypoint was created. If the original waypoint was taken from a map, there should be a legend on the map that lists the map datum and position format used to create that map. Most often this is found near the map key.
    • Select Settings > Units.
    • Select the correct map datum and position format settings.
    • Create the waypoint again.
