Default LiveScope and regular transducer worth it.

I’m pulling the trigger on a LiveScope setup and going to put on an independent mount. I’m curious if you are running a LiveScope setup and use the side/down imagining transducer? In the grand scheme of things price with transducer vs without isn’t huge. Thanks

I purchased a 1022 gpsmap just for LS. I have HBs so just wanted a nice screen solely for LS. I think they have a $200 rebate going on them now.

I assume you are referring to the gt54 transducer or another one?

I think the UHD transducer is $150 extra when bundled. Well worth it even if you decide not to use it you can sell it for at least that much.

I would never use the transducer on the bow but would be great for a transom mount setup. You could buy an extra bail mount cradle if you wanted to use the screen on the bow and helm.

I am referring to the GT54. I was just curious if anyone uses the side/down imaging with a front setup with LiveScope. I have a Helix 10 on the console.

I could see if you wanted to side scan out to maybe 100 feet each way without firing up the outboard. The livescope gets a little grainy after about 60 for me. Sometimes the 455 kHz would be okay to reach out a little further.

I use a pole with LS and GT54 transducer mounted on pole with 2 units and use all the features of that transducer along with maps and mapping with 2 units up front.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

That is a nice setup but doesn't sound like OP plans to have two garmin graphs up front. Thus would be using split screen or changing from livescope perspective view to another sonar view.

Note also that you can use maps without transducer. I think it comes down to if you only have one Garmin up front with livescope would you be using down or side scan. My answer is still "rarely if ever".
