    Default Need antenna

I have an older ‘bird 898 and need to use an antenna to check if my unit has gone bad or if the antenna is bad. The part number is 408920-1. If I’m out in left field asking for this, please excuse me. A new one is about $125 and if that’s not the issue it just adds to the injury. I could just as well add to that and buy a new unit. If there’s a way to test the antenna I have please let me know so I can move forward with this. I miss my GPS on a screen big enough to see with these old eyes. Thanks for any help.

The only simple way is to connect it to another unit if you have access to one. Those receivers can be sensitive to lower voltages which could be battery, wiring, or connection (loose or corroded pin/socket) to the unit.

No other unit available that I know of close by. No corrosion on either side of connections. Can’t speak about loose as it’s a multi pin plug that is grouped in a cluster plug.

I’ll look this weekend, see if I have an extra.
    I possibly do have one.

Thanks Redge. I’ll pay the shipping if you do.

Redge ... if you don’t have one - I’ll check my collection to see if I have a working external skeet can borrow ...

I've got an old GR16/4 puck you're welcome to try if that will work for you. It has number 406342 cast into the back of it. Let me know and I will hook it up to one of my old units to make sure it still works.

Skeet I have a working AS GR50 that you can use to test.

It is not the heading sensor model — it’s the same puck that should have come with your 898 ...

PM me your address if you want me to send it to you for testing ...
