Just to keep everyone in the loop, Ricky’s antenna got here today. Plugged it up to the unit and it gives me all kinds of GPS views. So I guess I’m in the market for another antenna.

If my unit is a gen 1 is the antenna helping... considering the fact that my lake Wheeler was hd in gen2 and my unit can't open the file.

I ask that to ask this ... Am I actually using mine?

Catch, If you aren’t using it that’s exactly what I need. Long as it’s working I’d be glad to pay you for what it’s worth. Please let me know.

Go under the Views tab and make the “GPS Diagnostic” view “Visible” ...

Then exit out of the menus and cycle thru the views to the GPS Diagnostic view ... at the bottom of this view it will say which antenna the unit is using ...

In doing some research I’m finding different models that may or may not work with the 898 that I have. Anybody know which ones are compatible?

Any network capable unit can network but can be limited by the model and differing sonar technologies like CHIRP or MEGA frequencies. CHIRP mode prevents sharing sonar with non-CHIRP models. It mostly depends on what you want to be able to share and from where (to or from the 898). If you only want to share waypoints, any network capable unit will work although there could be issues with SOLIX or ONIX models.
