Default networked humminbird units not sharing tracks

    Hello,

I have humminbird 959 and 999, networked, and it appears that tracks are not shared. I have created tracks and can only see them on 999. Am I correct in that they will not share the tracks over the network, or am I missing something to get them to show up on 959? If they can't be shared, would there be any problem with downloading just the tracks to the 959?

    Thanks in advance!
    Ty (Nory)

    I’m not 100% sure because I don’t save tracks ...

*Is the saved tracked listed in the 999 in the left pane of Waypoint Management? (Under Nav tab/Waypoints Routes Tracks) ...
    ——

I would think Exporting all Nav data to a SD Card and loading that Nav data into the other unit should transfer all the Nav data - including saved tracks ...

Maybe someone with more experience in tracks will jump in ...

    Rickie,

It does show up on the 999, under waypoints, routes, tracks list. However it does not show up on the waypoints, routes, tracks list on the 959. What I did was create a track in Google Earth, converted it to .gpx, then brought it into Humminbird PC. Downloaded it on to 999. I did research and can find some comments that point to tracks not being shared through network on helix models but can be on Solix's networked (If I remember correctly). Just can't find this info about the leagacy models of 'birds. I'm hoping I can create a new folder in Humminbird PC with just the track in it and download only that to the 959. Pretty sure I wouldn't want the waypoints in that Humminbird PC folder and then downloading those to the 959, since the waypoints get shared over the network.

I understand everything you’ve noted but I can’t find documentation stating decisively either way ...

I’m curious if the Google Earth track conversion may have something to do with this ...

Try Saving a new (active) track on the 999 and then see if that track shows on the other unit ...

This would at least definitively tell us if normal HB saved tracks can be shared thru Ethernet on legacy core units ...

Also your idea of putting the individual track into HBPC, moving to an SD Card and importing into the 959 should work ...

And true, if you also put the 999’s waypoints into that folder and load into the 959 = the 959 would then display duplicates of each waypoint (the newly imported waypoints - and the duplicate waypoints shared from the 999 thru Ethernet) ... so no = don’t put the waypoints from the 999 into the 959 ...

Helix and older models won't share tracks.

You can create a separate update file in HBPC that contains only tracks and then use that to upload to other units (not including waypoints).
