That's what I've been doing now too, I've been saving the Updates to my computer everytime garmin comes out with them.

Im pretty new to Garmin but I think I may start downloading updates and saving a copy of them on my computer each time they come out with a new one. I’ve only updated my unit once when I first bought it and that time I did it through WiFi through the ActiveCaptain app.

I do think garmin has greatly reduced the arch, ghosting effects. It will get better hopefully but I'll be leery of new updates until the RSA all clear signal
