Default Humminbird 858c HD I pilot link

I have the terrova i pilot link 55lb 12v. I run a helix 7 si g2 at the console. I just purchased 858c HD. I already have the ethernet cable ran for the ipilot link connection to the 858c. I mainly need/wanted this to have access to my waypoints for the go to spot lock function.

The unit i bought is the head unit only. Not a big deal bc I plan to use the built in us2 sonar transducer in the terrova. My issue is that unit 858c HD uses external gps antenna Which i wont have. Will it use the i pilot links gos puck once it is connected? Would love some help if anyone could assist.

Well the first attempt was a bad heading sensor. Minn Kota took care of me and sent a replacement. Upon receiving the replacement i got everything hooked up. Deployed the TM and has no options in the network menu to connect the heading sensor. Before replacing i could go to the gps section of the menu. After replacing and pairing to the ipilot that menu option is no longer available. It shows gps under status tab as blank but the actual gps tab has disappeared. Just have status 2d T1. Any suggestions?

Is the Ethernet cable connected between the TM iLink and the Humminbird unit ...??

Is the Humminbird unit on the latest software version ... ??

Is the TM on the latest software version ...??

(Also try Restore Defaults on the HB) ...

Yes everything is connected and updated. It detects and connects to the i pilot. Gives me different options through i pilot but gps is not one of the options it says i pilot navigation which is on. My 858c hd will not display any of chartplotter views only sonar im guessing this is due to no gps signal. I have double checked everything is up to date on software updates.

Correct ... the HB unit will not allow Chart views until GPS reception is established ...

I’m not sure why the 858 is not seeing the i-Pilot GPS ...

In the 858 make the Accessory Test view visible under the Views tab and see if it is listing any GPS as Connected ...

If no one pops in with more info please call HB ... 1-800-633-1468

Are you certain you have seen Ipilot Link as a source under the network GPS tab? The reason I ask is because the software update for the newer Bluetooth MK trolling motor controller (version 1.26) which enabled the Ipilot Link to be used as a GPS/Heading source indicates only for Helix and Solix models. I still use a 998 along with a Helix model located at console with an external GPS so I don't normally try to view that capability from the Ipilot Link on the 998. I will try to confirm on the boat later and report back. Below is the software description for Version 1.26 for the TM. It has since been updated but I've seen nothing indicating additional models.

    Software Update - i-Pilot Link with Bluetooth - Controller v 1.260 Remote v. 2.000
    Released 12/22/2018
    Software Description
    Controller v1.260
    Remote v2.000
Use the i-Pilot Link as a GPS and Boat Heading source for HELIX or SOLIX
    Affected Models:
All Bluetooth enabled i-Pilot Link (touch screen remote) installed trolling motor models.
    Updated Features:
    Controller
Use i-Pilot Link as a GPS and Boat Heading source for HELIX or SOLIX
    Remote

Update: I currently use a 998c SI model and Helix 10 SI Gen1 model at console networked with a Helix 12 G1 and Ultrex at bow (all have latest software). I just checked and confirmed I can not select the Ipilot/Link as a GPS/Heading source on the 998. The Helix model will show the Ipilot-Link, if deployed, as a GPS/Heading source in Network/GPS tab as shown in attached image. Only the xx9/xxx9 models and above received software for compatibility with the newer Bluetooth MK motors and not sure if that's the reason or the software that was provided for the Bluetooth trolling motors as indicated in previous post. Perhaps someone using a xxx9 series model with a newer TM can confirm whether you can use GPS/Heading from the TM. But may need to contact HB CS to confirm. Wes
