    Default Hummingbird Helix "HD" Transducer?!?

Did anyone upgrade their transducer from the one they send you when you buy the unit to the "Hi-Def 'ducer? Is it worth the money? How much better is it? Thx.

I thought you were getting a Helix 9 G2N? It should come standard with a mega transducer. No?

Chris, I'm getting the helix 9 g3n but from what I understand they come with the DI/SI transducer but there is a HD transducer you can get by sending in your 'ducer before opening the packaging and getting an upgraded transducer which is Hi-Def for $85. Once the packaging has been opened then HB wont take it in trade and that HD ducer can cost you up to close to $400.

What's the P/N of the ducer they sent with the new unit? I haven't heard of a better one than the G3N "Mega plus". Where did you hear about the $85 upgrade? There's some old info on the net from years ago (pre Mega) that was what you're describing. http://www.humminbird.com/Category/S...ducerExchange/

Your new unit should have a #710282-1 which is the bestest, most goodest, one available.

If I'm wrong about that, I'm sure someone will straighten me out.

You are probably right. And yes, I did see this on You Tube watching someone unboxing their new Helix. I didn't pay attention to when the clip was made and posted. I saw it said on a couple of clips that HB should put a not in every box telling you about the exchange but they don't. I'll keep looking while I'm waiting for the Postman to drop off my unit. Thanks.

The XM 9 HW MSI T is the best xducer for the HELIX 9 MEGA SI G3N ...

The “upgrade” in question dealt with the HELIX 9 SI (G1) that came with the XTM 9 SI 180 T (Compact SI xducer) - which could be “upgraded” to the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T (Hi Def SI) xducer ...

    ——-

Note : Although HB never admitted it - my opinion is that HB offered the HELIX 9 SI (G1) with the lower cost SI xducer to try and get more people to be able to afford a reasonable SI unit ... mainly because statistics show that once a user experiences SI - they are more willing to upgrade = either to an upgrade xducer or bigger more expensive unit ...

Thanks guys. That clears it up AND it saves me an extra $85 (which I'm gonna use to get the ram mount).

FYI, you're gonna love it! My 12 G2N is incredible and yours is even better with Mega+.
