Default Xi5 foot controll do you like how it works?

Friend bought one with pinpoint. If you heel down on petal it hesitates then turns 180 degrees then you have to toe down and bring back to the direction you wanted to go. And you can't keep your eyes off the position arrow because it doesn't have a full range of motion. I've got a 20 plus year old motor guide pinpoint trolling motor that is wire control not cable and its works just like a cable stear. I wish motor guide would have used one like on the xi5. Do you like your foot control?

The steering is too reactive. I replaced the springs with weeker ones and it's better but still doesn't have the response of the remote. Handy to have so you can hit the anchor lock when your hands are tied up.

Hate the foot pedal, love the trolling motor. I almost feel odd using a foot pedal now the remote is too convent.

I tried foot pedal a few times and hated it. I only use the remote.

I use it sometimes when bass fishing and I can empathise with the guys who use it and previously posted...
I end up using the heading lock and cruise control at the same time help me manage gnarley situations.

I have slept since i did so i am not 100% sure but I think you can change course with foot pedal while using heading lock and cruise. Please post comments on if i am correct or not...

Found the perfect FIX for the stiff foot pedal. I replaced the springs with springs from McMaster-Carr. Item number 9002T31. The size of the spring is perfect so there is no modification to the springs necessary. For me, it has a perfect feel! The replacement process is not too hard at all. Motor Guide should look into using these springs instead of the stiff ones used now!

I don't use mine very often, but when I do its way too reactive, it really could use lighter springs in it and I've thought about modifying it. Other then that the XI5 is the best money I've spent on my boat.

Hello I’m wondering how well the replacement springs worked out for you?
