Default Ultrex spot lock jog issue

Ok guys I need some input from you. I bought a Ultrex link trolling motor about 6 months ago. I am not completely happy with it. My major issue is spot lock. Maybe I am asking to much but this thing doesn't keep my boat in place like I thought it should. I haven't been on another boat that has it so I have no baseline. When ever i use it with no wind its all over the place. It may drift 8 to 10 feet and then its like it just woke up and drives hard back to the spot, its back and forth from there. Sometimes its hard enough to cause you to grab the seat. is this normal? If there is a good wind its better but not great. I have adjusted the boat scale, recailbrated the compass etc...

The abruptness can be adjusted by changing the "Boat Scale". See "sticky" thread "Minn Kota I Pilot Questions and Answers" - about page 50-51.

Basically the trolling motor/I Pilot thinks your boat is bigger and heavier than it is and is using more energy to pull you back to your spot.

Now, the issue of how far Spot Lock ranges, thats another issue discussed in detail in that same thread.

    Hope this helps.

*sorry, just noticed you already adnusted boat scale*

Thanks for the link. I'll read it now. Yeah I have had the boat scale on every setting. It does make a difference but the lowest setting still does as I described. I think I'm going to call tech support.

Spot lock is actually the worse in calm conditions at least for me I have the Ulterra it is not as bad as yours but a steady breeze she will lock in with in a few feet and darn good compared to the non bluetooth model.
