    For me, I wouldn’t use electrical tape due to the moisture aspect. There is a product called Tommy Tape I used on ice fishing rods all the time. It is a self-fusing silicone tape. Great stuff to have in the tool box.
    I have not used Tommy tape but HDepot sells a rubber splicing tape that stretches and sticks to itself and works well also.

    Cost me a SI transducer to learn the no wire tye lesson.

    Yep, same stuff / concept! Moisture won’t impact its grip.
