Default New transducer and black box testing from Garmin

I had issues with my Garmin Livescope after the recent software updates. Garmin sent me a new transducer and black box. I made it on the water today to test it. Best I can say is results are mixed. Good news is my dead zone seems to be really reduced or gone. Bad news is the starburst effect is still very strong and my screen is really cluttered and fuzzy looking. We had a bad storm yesterday and the water has lots of pollen and other stuff in it which really fuzzed up my Birds as well so that's why I say the results are inconclusive. I'm currently running software version 2.33. I really, really tempted to roll back to pre Perspective View software. Seems people who have like it but I'd love to see more pictures from those who have. I'll probably go out 1 more time testing before I decide what to to. Any and all input appreciated!
Really great job by Garmin getting me this new hardware!

Garmin has me on the list for a replacement and I not sure what to do. I spoke with them yesterday and told them I had done the roll back and it worked and the tech said that it was not recommended and could damage the unit however it fixed my problem and is working fine. I want be able to do any updates or add perspective mode in the future and they’re still willing to replace it. Outside of the clutter was it operating like it should? Were you able to see fish and your lure without any problems? The clutter and what is called the ghost effect is the problem I was having with the 2.33 version. I could be targeting a fish in that 10-20ft forward range and it would disappear before I could drop on it.

Keith, yes everything was operating like it should. Very little to zero dead zone. I had to really push Garmin to get my replacement hardware this fast. I've been reluctant to do a forced update for the reasons you have listed above. I really don't like software version 2.33. I think the starburst effect is really enhanced.

But on a positive note the dead zone is gone or greatly reduced. Yes most of the time I could see my 1/16 oz jig out to 35 to 40 feet and track it all the way back to the boat!
But some fish are getting spooked when they get closer than 20 feet to the boat and swimming away. Maybe that is what is happening to you as well.

I’m sure the fish being spooked is part of it I’ve had that to happen to me on brush piles as well as out in open water. Good to hear it’s working correctly and maybe when this pollen settles down the star burst want be as bad please let me know don’t think I’m going to get a replacement until you’re satisfied with yours. FYI...I have a GN3 helix on the way hope to try it out soon.

Roy, what is this deadzone look like that you are talking about? I am currently running the first version of the software that had perspective mode on it. On my 2nd trip out after that upgrade I went to a lake that was a lot dirtier and I saw my first ghost tree. I was running my noise rej on off at that time. When I go to low or medium it went away. Just curious to see what you meant by your dead zones

Here is a picture that I took a before my new stuff came in. Dead zone right through the middle of a brushpile.
