I have a Helix 7g2 Si/Di/GPS.
It does not have the HD transducer, and I have never run any type of map card in it. I bought it when it first came out. Well, I have never updated it, and I attempted it last night, as I was bored and wanted to be doing something fishing related. Matter of fact, I was working with it, instead of working on my message I preached this morning.
I followed the instructions. I restored, restarted, etc. It never even recognized that I placed the micro SD card in it. It was a little disappointing. WHAT HAVE I DONE WRON? I even tried updating the Helix 5 DI I have up front....no luck.
I've read about it having to be a specific type of SD card. I even tried the fishsmart app....I think we might be old enough it isnt recognized on bluetooth.
Just at a loss....frustrated, and figured someone here has had the same issue, and could shoot me in the right direction.
Yes, I do understand a person could purchase a much newer, larfree, more functions unit.....not an option for this poor preacher.
Help....whatcha got for advice!!!
Happy Resurrection Day, my friends.

You can’t skip updates ! You will have to get ahold of h bird and let them send you the prior updates or at least that’s what I had to do! Mine was several updates behind ! Said it would lock up your unit if you try to skip previous updates and have to ship it in,
Are you using a card 32 gb or less? Did you download the right software for the exact unit? Double check that. Most software updates include all previous software updates. Your saying you have a helix 7 chirp SI gps G2 And if so,,here is the software update for that unit. https://www.humminbird.com/support/s...628.1586735033

Like cevans mentioned - software is unit model specific ... 32gb or less ...
Make sure you downloaded the software for your exact unit model ...

Sometimes the old saying goes a long way. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If your not having any issues with your electronics, and if you read what a update fixes and it irrelevant to you, why update? If your contemplating adding Humminbirds maps that are in some updates or maybe a 360 or mega 360. Update. Humminbird has put out a few updates that were alittle quirkie. Some for Garmin and Lowrance also. The updates would fix a particular issue but screw maybe something else up alittle. Crap happens sometimes. If you don’t think you need to update and it’s all working for you, don’t. I keep a,copy of every update I download even and if the update were to screw something up,then I can re install a previous update to unscrew a new update also if I didn’t like the way it affected my unit.
