Default Help school me on trolling motors

For the past three years I have had a Minn Kota PowerDrive V2 with CoPilot, but I want to upgrade. I am leaning towards a Minn Kota Terrova 80 60" BT I-Pilot, is there any reason I should consider the Ulterra or Ultrex instead? Issue I have is I run Garmin electronics and know they do not talk to Minn Kota.

    Here are my questions:

Can the Terrova BT I-Pilot able to talk to Humminbird electronics? Do the base units do a good job of this or is more needed? Or do you need the I-pilot link upgrade to do so?

I really want to have spot lock and auto pilot is the reason for the upgrade. I fish an aluminum boat that gets pushed around easily, but I feel this would help me tight line more easily.

If anyone has any insight, or what would work best and why, it would be greatly appreciated.

Minn Kota Bluetooth only allows the included Minn Kota heading sensor to talk to the Minn Kota ...

Any Minn Kota model must be iLink (an Ethernet connection) to communicate with any HB unit ...

Ulterra is electric deploy and stow ...
Ultrex is “electric servo assisted” cable steer from a foot pedal - with added electric steer capability from the remote ...

Terrova, Ulterra and Ultrex all have SpotLock and i-Pilot features ...

I went through this scenario last spring. A call to Brian @ BBG Marine with a discussion of my needs and wants lead to his recommendation. Then he beat everyone’s price, which included shipment to my door in just a couple of days. I’m happy with the results!

I sent him a message the same time I posted this for details. For the price, I feel the Terrova is a good value. I read about earlier models having spot lock issues, but they have all been updated to be better now.

I intentionally didn’t mention it in my first post, but Terrova was my choice. Spot Lock was what I wanted, as I rarely troll. Plus, my electronics are Lowrance. It will definitely hold you in an area.

I’ve had a riptide PD-V2 for ten years. It has the auto pilot and copilot and while it doesn’t have spot lock, I have learned to use it very well to stay in place. I must admit that I wish for spot lock sometimes but don’t feel I’m undergunned. It’s a much cheaper upgrade than replacing, but I can’t say I wouldn’t do it if I had the chance.

BT models also allow you to use your smartphone to operate the motor. I’ve used it before....left factory remote in truck and didn’t realize until several miles up river.
