    Default "Tractor" Battery

I have a HB Helix 10" mounted near the console. To power it, I installed a small 12v tractor battery under my seat. It is a short run from the battery to the Helix, and now I have one dedicated battery just for this unit. I know just enough about electrical stuff to know not to touch the black and red wires at the same time. So for those of you who know about these things: Is my setup ok? I'm not facing any potential damage to the unit, am I?

Photos of your setup would help.

Without seeing the install it sounds like you should be OK. Just make sure all the wires are secure and not rubbing on anything.

    Secure mounting for the battery.
Protect/cover the terminals from possible shorts.
Proper fuse size to the HB unit.
Easy access to the charge battery.

    Should be good to go.

2 critical things, proper fuse right at battery to protect unit and wiring and good tight connections then everything mike said.

proper fuse right at battery to protect unit
    Good catch.
    My bad.

I should have mentioned the importance of the fuse location.

Regardless if it is a single run or a feed to an aux. fuse panel, a proper size fuse should be installed at the battery location/connection to protect the run of the
    wire.

    Thanks Cray

Thank you all for your replies. It looks like I did something right. It is fused close to the battery and connections remain tight. So, that's one less thing I have to worry about. Thank you.
