Should refill only with distilled water. Water is all that evaporates during use. Adding acid will corrupt the ratio of liquid in battery.
This can be confirmed by reading detailed instructions for battery. Pretty important to get this right.

Several threads on bbc forum on lithium batteries, and the guys there are going to lithium batteries. Most are going with the 50 amp for their trolling motors either 24 volt or 36 volt with the 50’s hooked up. 3000-5000 full charges, 5 yr warantee, and a blue tooth program for your phone will show how many amps you have left as your using them, Imjust got a 50 amp Iconic for all my electronics that weighs 14lbs 6 ozs to replace my series 31 that weighs 75 lbs. when my others batteries die, will replace with lithium. One cycle charge of the 3000-5000 is a complete charge. If it only needed charge when at 50% used....that is a half a cycle. So figure how many times you will charge in a year and figure how long the battery will last. Sure they cost. But, I definitely in the next 10 yrs won’t need to get another battery. Read!!!

I find the lithium’s interesting but I’m not shopping for a better right now. A cross that bridge when I come to it thing.

The batteries I’m running are Walmart series 29’s and have had them 3 years now, and they’re in their second boat. I troll 6 or 7 hours and have never had them go down yet. These are the cheaper ones, I bought the pair for under $250. My blue top in my bumble bee I sold was 5 years old and also never let me down, used it as a cranking and electronics battery. Crank battery in this boat is little more than a car battery and was there when I bought it, works fine, ain’t broke don’t fix it kinda thing right now. I expect to have to deal with it before the TM batteries. The interstates I had before these lasted about 4 years and had a cell go bad in one so I replaced the pair. They were 27’s and I worked them hard too. If the lithium’s don’t cost me my first born child, they may be in my future when it comes time to replace. I like a sealed battery, one less thing to worry about.

I too run the Walmart deep cycle group 31. Been getting 5-6 years out of them.
I think the lithium’s are where we will all be in 5-12 years.
Less weight, more cycles, does have specific charging needs I think.

Default 6 volt golf cart vs 12 volt

I ran 2 12 volt deep cycle (27s) in parallel in my motor home. These were for running all 12 volt accessories plus TVs on inverters. It had a totally separate battery for cranking and running the engine.
I attended a technical seminar at an RV rally on house batteries and run life.
Turns out I bought 2 6 volt golf cart type batteries and ran in series for 12 volt house power.
    To compare reserve power:
With the 2 12 volt ones, after running lights, TV and ceiling and exhaust fans all night, i had about 50% battery life the next morning.
With the 2 6 volt batteries
I had about 85% left the next morning. The batteries were a couple inches taller so I had to extend the tie downs but length and width were identical.
I don't remember the exact number but the technician. showed me the spec on reserve capacity on the 6 vs 12 volt and it was darn near double the reserve amps.
Bottom line the price was almost identical on the 6 vs 12 but the run time was about 3X for the 6 Volts.
Incidentally the seminar was hosted by Interstate Battery which is what I was running. The 6 volts were also Interstates.
