    Default Ipilot remote battery cover

Anyone else absolutely hate the battery cover on these older ipilot remotes? This one has finally gotten to the point the slot is stripped out and I can't get anything to work to get it open. Any suggestions?? Name: 20200126_160637.jpg

I had one do that and I took a drill bit and made slot a little deeper and about same size as screwdriver I was gonna use. Worked good

Maybe use a dab of epoxy or JBweld to secure a small nut to the cover then use a wrench or pliers to take on and off.

Call minkota, they used to offer a kit to replace the entire back cover. Think it came with a new battery cover. Some reported getting them for free.

If you have a dremel tool you could grind another slot perpendicular to that one.

That cover was faulty from the get go. When I called them on mine they said I needed to send them proof of purchase. I told them I would have to find it and
would call them back. They called me back a few minutes later and told me not worry with the proof of purchase and sent me another remote with a different
configuration for the bad part. I think I had to send the old one back. It's been several years ago. They know it was a faulty design. Mine was out of warranty.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

Fisherman 307 has all replacement parts for the remote. You can get body parts, top and back, o ring and the battery lock cap. I ordered a couple parts from them. Fairly cheap too! They seem to have everything TM wise to!

Thanks for all the replys....I agree with you stormcloud, this was a bad design from the start. The groove was never deep enough and most anything you used to open it wold just eat away at the edges. Mine is finally to the point it just wont open. I will start with Minn Kota and see what they say first.

Try a quarter to open it. That's what we use on ours. Good luck! When I got my parts I bought extra's, that's how cheap it was from Fishermen 307. Good luck!
