Default Cable management for Livescope/SI transducers

I have an older model Terrova and have both the Panoptix transducer as well as the SI/DI transducer for the 93sv both mounted on the bottom portion of TM. So I basically have 2 differnt cables flopping which worries me. I took it out for the first time yesterday and it did OK but I could see one of them getting wedged and me turning the TM too far and pinching it. Any easy (and cheap) ideas anyone has utilized to combat this?

Look at the cornfield crappie cable system for Terrova. Think that would be your best bet. And I’m pretty sure you could put both cables inside that hose.

Thanks Charlie.... I have looked at that but just wanted to make sure there wasn't something else out there I was missing. With all the guys that have engineered stuff from PVC for the transducer mount I figured somebody had come up with something at this pointCable management for Livescope/SI transducers.

I made my own with some 3/8 air tubing and some alum brackets I had in the garage, the hose isnt cheap but its a lot cheaper than buying it from CC. Its the same stuff that CC uses, and I bought double the amount for $40 I think. Maybe more than double, because I used it for a transducer and had so much left over that when I switched transducers I just threw away the tubing and replaced it and I think I still have enough to do it again.

I dont know how well it would work with livescope wires, those are pretty thick and I doubt would even fit in the tubing.. but it would work great for your side imaging ducer.

Right now until I know that I’m leaving my setup exactly as is I have 3/4” wide hook & loop Velcro on it. When I do for sure know nothing is going to be changed I’ll put tape around cable in places & put heater hose over it & use clamps over the taped areas but on outside of heater hose so kit to damage cable. Will work good, be very protected & look good too.

I wanted my transducer mounted to my trolling motor but didn’t like all of extra cords etc. I came up with this solution and it has worked great. When I’m using Spotlock the trolling motor cable gets tight and rewinds before the Livesxope cable gets tight. I’m sure you could do this on the Power Drive motors as well, as long as you watched the cable tightness.

    Materials:
•One Rod Sock made for 6.5’ rods
    •Cable Ties
•A small bushing about an inch and half long that a 1/4” bolt will go
through and a clamp to hold cable off of the side cover of the Terrova.
•A longer 1/4” bolt to replace the short bolt that holds the side cover on.

Cut a small slit just down from the enclosed end of the Rod Sock. Run the LS cable up through the Rod Sock and out the cut opening. I heated the strands of the cut opening before running the cable and then taped this well after I ran the cable through so it wouldn’t frazzle out. Attach the big end of the Rod Sock to the LS cable at the top of the transducer with cable ties and attach cable to Rod Sox at the top where you made the cut with tape. Wrap the cable and Rod Sock loosely five times around the Terrova shaft between the motor and the steering motor. Then attach the factory end to the locking pin on the Trerova with cable ties. Run the LS cable down the side of the cover and attach it to the trolling motor with the clamp, bushing and longer bolt. Run the LS cable on to the LS Black box and you are done. Stows perfectly and has worked fine for me. No extra cables cluttering up everything. I think it looks neat and organized.

I have tried to explain the process and have attached some pictures but if you want any more info. feel free to PM me.

    Hope this may help
    some of you guys.

    Tight Lines,
    Richard

I have the Precision Sonar mount on my Ulterra. 2 cables running up the hose. I am having a problem with spot lock disengaging when the hose gets wrapped around the top of the motor. I think the motor senses resistance and kicks out of spot lock. I have tried to lengthen the wires so I can stretch the tubing longer. Haven't got to try it yet to see if there is an improvement or not.

There are some you tube videos with fellows using a spring attached to the head of their trolling motor and attached to their cables. Seems to work better than the cable management systems that I have seen.
