Default Which manufacturer is the best at creating your own charts?

All I have is a Gen1 Helix 5 SI and an old eagle unit on my bow. I want to get a new unit that is a step up in size from the Helix 5 that has Autochart or its equivalent so I can build my own charts. I'm not too familiar with pricing aside from Humminbirds so the approximate cost of a current gen Heliz 7 SI (non mega) is kind of the price range I'd like to stick in. I don't know if the chart building feature would be the critical point in which one I choose but I would like to hear opinions on which manufacturers chart building are good and maybe stand above the rest.

Let me bump this and tweak the question - who on here has created their own charts? What unit do you have and how would you rate the charting capabilities? I'd like to stick with Humminbird since I'm familiar with the user interface but it does seem that the Garmin units may be priced slightly better after all.

Yup I will research there more as well as I have decided I prefer Hummingbird to others so will probably get Helix of some sort. Livescope is nice but I think out of reach for me now. Plus I think hard to do in kayak??

As a kayak guy I assume you fish a lot of uncharted water? I use a boat but the small reservoirs I primarily use are all uncharted.

Map of a section of a subdivision lake I created using a Humminbird 998 and the Autochart Pro PC software before Autochart Live was released

I have used my Garmin Chirp 93sv to map a couple of smaller lakes (public) that had nothing but the edge defined. Also one that had nothing period. I found the system to work great and was easy as could be to do so. My maps are uploaded on the Gramin Community page.
