    Default I’m so darned excited!

So I’ve been a bit out of the game for awhile taking care of ailing and elderly family members. Things stabilized a few weeks ago so I decided to go crappie fishing. Found a few crappie on my Garmin 73sv and dropped a marker. Turned around a dropped a jig on em and bang, first fish of the day. 30 seconds later my trolling motor died. Turns out my 12 year old foot control minn kota finally gave up the ghost.

Flash forward about two weeks. I just picked the boat up from my local dealer having installed a new ultrex 80 link with ipilot. Also had them install a helix 9 di using the built in mega transducer. Also just ordered the appropriate lakemaster charts for that unit and to be able to follow contours, etc.

I’ve now jumped forward about 20 years in technology and never thought I’d have the capabilities the boat will have now. Haven’t been to the water yet as I’m pre-committed with family engagements for awhile but hope to give it all a go pretty soon. Can you tell I’m excited?

Congrats!! And you have a lot to be excited about. After using the I pilot TM coupled with the HB unit and lakemaster map card you will wonder how you ever got along without them! It's a wise and worthwhile investment to say the least, good luck with your new toys and keep us posted

Yeah I’ve watched these threads for years thinking I’d likely never spring for the toys. I finally just said man its time to do this and went for it. I have a son that loves to troll so I’m really thinking the ipilot will help with the long lining and allow me to do other stuff in the boat. I usually spider rig when he’s not with me. Can’t hurt there either

You will be pleased with the Ultrex, if a neer'do well pointed a gun to my head and said which motor to take, I would give him the outboard 9 out of 10.. the type fishing you described is ideal for your TM.
