    Thanks for your opinions
Ended up getting the Helix 10 at 5 this morning Only had 30 to sell and I went the wrong way in the store. Figured I was too late to get one until I saw my nephew who went with me was third in line. Owe him now he saved me
The larger screen with better resolution and mega has got to be better for old eyes
    Thanks again
Almost forgot my nephew told me he was getting nervous thinking he would have to pay if I didn’t get there soon

I was unsure about getting one during their sale. Every once in a while I get insomnia. Got it that night. I was awake at 4:00 a.m. so I took advantage of it. BPS is about 5 minutes away. Long story short, I got the 10" Helix at a super price. I wanted to mount transducer on trolling motor. Now I find out, according to HB transducer chart, I can't mount this transducer, or any alternate transducer for this unit, on a Minn Kota motor of less than 85 lb thrust, mine is 45# Edge. I've sent email to HB and am awaiting reply.

Let us know what they say... I got one also and was wanting to mount the transducer on the trolling. I have a Power Drive V2.

I heard from HB this afternoon. Here is what they said :Thank you for contacting Humminbird. We appreciate yoursupport of our products. The XM 9 20 MSI T will only work on trolling motorwith 80 thrust there is not a work around for this.

It is upsetting. I thought I did my research on this unit very thoroughly. So, Ill still place the unit on the bow and network to the one on console. This means I'll have to adjust for the fact that what I'm seeing is actually 17 feet behind me. UPSETTING

    Feel for you.

Just when you think you have it all dialed in , there is a hiccup because the transducer is huge.

This suggestion may not appeal to you if there alot of stumps to deal with, but I will describe a work around I have seen a few times at the ramps up here.

The owners had cut down the the forward mounted skeg and left a few inches to mount the transducer below it.

They made mounts that held the transducer and a forward facing verticle metal guard to the cut skeg.

Granted the guard extended past the nosecone a bit because of the transducer length, but the transducer was better protected.

May not be pretty, but very functional.

    Just a thought.

    Good Luck

    PS
Just found this on another site. The pictures give you the general idea but the examples I have seen were a bit more refined.

You might just want to add a bow mount just for your transducer. That’s what I did and very happy with it, can sit right on top of what you are fishing using down scan. Also I like to be able to raise the transducer out of the water and protect it in really heavy cover. I use one from
Fishing Specialties but several others out there.

Sorry not right now I have everything taken apart getting ready to install new fish finder and panoptix. But if you go to Fishing Specialties web site you can get an idea of it. Also check out da ducer that’s another transducer mount
