Sorry to hear this. Problems like this are enough to drive you insane
for the 5th outing in a row my less than 7 month old Ulterra has died. Initially it was hard to power on, next trip would not power on at all, I thought maybe weak batteries. So made sure batteries were charged and on the next trip again would not power on. Took to Chip's marine and they couldn't get it not to power on. So I picked it up, got on the water and it ran for about 5 minutes. Died in the deploy position, Chip's mechic Ryan met me at the ramp and worked on it for about an hour. Got it working and was able to use it for about 2 hours. Took it out again today, it latest about 2 minutes before dying in the deploy position. Called the mechanic and he was able to walk me through some steps to get it stowed. They now have ordered a new electric control panel. If this doesn't work I'm gonna be more than a little upset. Not blaming Chip's Marine in no way, but minnkota better step up if this continues
Oh did I mention this has happened as I have taken 2 separate weeks of vacation so I could be fishing!!

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Hate to hear that. I hope they get it worked out. It’s very aggravating to spend that kind of money on something and it not work.

So sorry that happened!
Not fair to get in a guy’s vacation time!
Chips sounds like a great place if they sent someone to you!

Just when you thought the bugs would be worked out! I found mine to be in the 60 amp breaker. I hope that will be all I have to deal with. Sorry you ae having a problem.
Sorry for your troubles as I can relate. I worked with the finest technical folks Minn Koda has; three control heads, 4th control head replaced by authorized dealer two hours away when they replaced the retrieval mechanism, as well. Talked to techs while on the water, redid the boat scale often, all to no avail. The latest model would not hold spot lock to better than 5-10 feet. I still think I got a lemon as I have spoken to several folks that did not have this issue. All other capabilities work like a charm. Figure I will eventually wear out spot jog as it is the only saving grace for my recalcitrant spot lock. Will not keep me off the water, though. Good luck.

I’m on my 2nd one. Had this one for a little over a year. Past couple of months it is acting up......constantly correcting in spot lock and set the autopilot direction and it just decides to turn 180 degrees from where you had it. It is just a crap shoot with these things. While Minn Kota I’m sure will try to repair it these things are a pain to remove and install. What is aggravating is there are a lot of folks who’s motor works like a charm.....then there are those of us that can never get a good one. I just wonder about quality control. For first 9 months I had this one it was pure heaven.....now the ugly part has shown up. Haven’t had to do mechanical stow on this one but I lost count of how many times I did it on the first one...a real pain. For those that have to do it you have my sympathy.
Regards

I have the Xi5 and every now and then it will do the same thing. I know to be on the constant look out to try to stop it when it starts. Hard to do. I think it's more to do with losing the GPS signal but that's just my opinion and it's likely wrong. I've just dealt with it and have never tried to do anything about it since I've read where so many others have experienced the same issues. Good luck. Maybe one day they'll figure out how to stop it all together.

I keep hoping a software update will cure the wandering spot lock but figure I will end up buying whoever’s trolling motor that will really spot lock.
