    Default NMEA 2000

OK I have installed a MG XI5 and connected it to my HDS9 live. Obviously with the gateway kit and the NMEA 2000.
I have seen on line that several say the NMEA should be on a switch to power it on after you power on the trolling motor and depth finder. I looked all through the NMEA instructions and can't find anything referring to that. What do you you guys do and why? Seems like it would be a pain to have the NMEA off until after you deploy the trolling motor.
Crappie spawning and morels popping up at the same time. What was God thinking when he made that schedule. It's pure torture every spring deciding which to do.

My nema for the xi5 is on switched power (Blue sea fuse panel) a long with two HDS,a couple of 12 volt accessory plugs and other things.
I've never powered up in any special sequence.
But I've read about some guys (BBC)having a update that keep popping up on HDS, and the only way they could make it work was starting every thing in a special sequence.

Thanks for the info guys. I had some issues getting the motorguide update to install. I never did get all the update screens to pop up like they said in the book and on youtube videos. But once I restarted depth finder everything seems to be working correctly, as best as I can tell just sitting on the trailer. All controls function as they should on the HDS live as far as controlling the trolling motor. I seen on Walleye Central that some of them swear the NMEA has to be switched on after the TM and depth finder gets GPS lock. That seems like it would be a real pain if out fishing. I can run the NMEA to a switch with no issue. But until I have problems I think I am going to skip trying to turn everything on in a sequence.
