    Default GPS Heading sensor

I’m adding a Humminbird GPS with heading sensor to the rear of my boat close to the transom. Where I want to mount it is flat, but has a 5% tilt. I called Humminbird and got nowhere with them. I used a compass to check for anything that would interfere with the internal compass and there is no problem. Will a 5 % tilt be ok?
I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up.

Maybe a stupid question, but is the 5 degree tilt measured while on the trailer or on the water? Will the addition of passengers, tackle, water in the live wells, battery placement affect the degree of tilt?

The tilt was measured with the boat on the trailer. The trailer is sitting level. The tilt is towards the port side of the boat and I will be sitting on the starboard side. I think 5% will be leveled out.

In my mind a boat is in a constantly changing percentage of level while on the water

The 5° tilt in the mounting position will not affect the function of the AS GPS HS antenna ...
    -----

You did well by testing the area for interference ...

What may affect the AS GPS HS antenna function (and most do not think to check) is if the big motor wiring harness runs directly under this starboard rear corner ...

Interference in the Heading function (internal compass) may occur when the big motor is running due to the current running thru the wiring harness ...

Now, if interference in the AS GPS HS antenna function (the boat icon orientation) occurs during big motor operation ... It may not be a huge problem because the speed of the boat (using the big motor) will be fast enough to have a consistent "Course direction line" ... (even if the boat icon {Heading function} is skewed during big motor operation) ...

"Course direction" is which way the boat is moving ...(only available in HB above 0.6mph) ...
"Heading direction" is which way the boat is pointing (available at any speed) ...
