Make sure that nothing is obstructing the movement of the pedal. If the pedal is rubbing on something or there is something under the pedal it will sense resistance and shut off spot lock.

I had that problem occasionally with my Terrova, but I finally figured out that I was pokin the buttons on the remote, hangin around my neck, with the but of my rod !

    Good luck.

Also if you just bump the foot pedal with your foot it will turn loose!

Unless there's an issue with the switch, any resistance to pedal movement can kick it off from spot-lock

Had the same problem, come to find out my foot pedal was barely hitting a mounting bolt head and turning the spot lock off. Just ground a little plastic off the pedal and it's been fine ever since.
