Thread: garmin 93 versus garmin 94

Well, I spent more than that on my Gen 2 Helix 10 with TM mounting, external GPS and other bells and whistles. So glad I did as LS was not available and I learned a lot (thanks to Rickie and others). I would get rid of the whole set up and buy what I currently have which is the 8610xsv with transducer mounted on the Da Ducer from Podunkideas.com but since I already have the Helix and use it for DI split with Nav (using waypoints as my marker buoy) the LS just finalizes all competencies and I feel is the current penultimate rig. If I did get rid of the bird the 8610, with an additional transducer would do everything the bird would do but I would have to transition to different views. All I am saying is that the LS is the current best of show, at this time. I also thought my Minn Kota Ulterra would be the best TM but the spot lock is no where near the marketing hype so you can be sure I will be looking at future models and will jump in a nano second. And, yes, I have the current version. I also know that I am rather particular about my gear whether it is my motorcycle, truck, or fishing. Many catch more fish with less support items but I sincerely enjoy this sport of crappie fishing.

If your satisfied then I guess that’s what counts, but personally I think there getting carried away with these prices! There are certain things on or in my boat that if they quit I’d go that very day and replace, my helix 12 si comes to mind but I just don’t see why everyone calls this livescope a “game changer” you still mark something with si you use the waypoint to go back to the object, on di or 2d you can identify the objects t, it’s depth and how deep the fish are, all livescope adds is the ability to watch the fish infront of your boat move around and see the underwater object from a different angle, granted it’s real cool, but I’m beginning to think my old proven system works just fine, the livescope doesn’t makeum bite, and I can use that 2699 on gas to go fishing to learn how to makeum bite better

I really like my HB SI/DI but I'd give it up in a second if I had to choose between it and Garmin Livescope. Not even close.

I have been using the 93SV's on Livescope since July 2108 with zero issues, it is a very good system and it the best lowest entry cost unit, my opinion, to utilize the Livescope LVS32. That being said I just purchased a Echomap Ultra 106SV. It provides me with more screen resolution and has the HD sonar capability built in without the need for a separate box. It also has the capability to run the Livescope LVS12 without a box. It will not run the LVS32 without a box, I have no use or plan to use a LVS12 but it can if I ever wanted to.

The biggest differences are screen type and resolution. Vertical pixels approximate

Echo Map Plus 93SV - 9" screen - 400 x 800 pixels - Vertical pixels per inch - 83 - $800 -$1000
Echo map Ultra 106SV - 10" screen, 800 x 1280 pixels - Vertical pixels per inch - 148 - $1600- $2,000
GPS Map 8610 xvs - 10" screen - 1920 x 1200 pixels- vertical pixels per inch - 222 - $2600- $2800

i ended up getting the 1022, i like it alot, that thing was dang expensive though, but it honestly is how a fish finder should be, i can't believe it has taken someone this long to make such a piece of equipment but they sure are proud of there stuff! fyi i am running the lvs32 transducer with the box, also on a side note, i had to run a seperate 10ga wire directly from my cranking battery to the unit to get enough voltage to run the black box, garmin says its power hungry and requires a minimum of 12volts, im getting 12.8v now which should hold me through a day of fishing even in real cold weather, i was getting 11.5 prior to running a seperate wire, now all i need is more time on the water with it!
